Saxon Valley Foods

Project

  • Saxon Valley Foods Biggleswade Bedfordshire

Contract Value

  • Approx. £1.0 Million over 3 phases

Mansfield Pollard Ventilation Services have built up a close working relationship with Geest Foods Ltd. As a result of this partnership Saxon Valley Foods had no hesitation in utilising the specialist services offered for their new Biggleswade production facility in Bedfordshire, where a complete design and build package was essential.

Saxon required a specialist “cookhouse” ventilation system to remove cooking process contaminants, including steam and moisture, whilst at the same time maintaining the necessary airflows and patterns for a food process factory. For this specialist area of work Saxon Valley required a company with a proven track record and employed Mansfield Pollard as the only direct contractor on the project.

The “Total Package capability” offered enabled complete control of the project to be maintained and, if required due to the nature of the project, changes to be made and incorporated quickly and efficiently.

Mansfield Pollard designed, manufactured and installed three central station extract air handling units complete with staged odour control and attenuation serving four stainless steel canopies over cooking gantries.

Two central station air handling units were used to provide general make up air to both low and high risk areas. All canopies were supplied with internal lighting, remote filter removal, self draining facility for daily wash down and integral Heating and Ventilating control wiring and panels. Fundamental to the design of the system was the ability to accept the next phase of the project with minimum of disruption to the production facility.

The total project comprised three phases over a twelve week period.
