Mallard Air Systems were tested to the full after being specified for 12 air handling units for Thomas Danby College in Leeds. The college, which is one of the Norths premier catering training facilities, required the first units to be delivered four weeks after placement of the order.
The air side system, designed by Mallard, comprised 12air handling units (AHU’s) with the biggest being 4 metres high x 3 metres wide and 6.5 metres long. The design incorporated an element of heat recycling to keep the running costs down and efficiency of the system at an optimum level.
Mitie Engineering Services, the mechanical contractor appointed for the heating refurbishment programme, relied on Mallard to design the units based on the requirements of the existing building. During the summer months fresh air ventilation is the only requirement, with gas fired heating being utilised along with the recycled warm air during colder spells.
As a result of the standard of units supplied by Mallard and the satisfaction since expressed by the client, Mansfield Pollard Ventilation have recently carried out a number of alterations to the ductwork system already installed within the building to maintain and improve the efficiency of the overall system.
